Mingjie Bi 毕铭杰

I am a research scientist at the Multi-agent Lab, Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence (BIGAI), China. Before that, I worked in Hitachi America Ltd. as a smart manufacturing researcher. I obtained my Ph.D. in 2023 from the Robotics Department at the University of Michigan, where I was advised by Professors Kira Barton and Dawn M. Tilbury.
My research centers on distributed artificial intelligence, with a particular emphasis on multi-agent systems. I am interested in the following topics:
- Research Areas: Agent modeling, multi-agent interaction and decision-making, agent-based simulation
- Methodologies: Multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL), large language model (LLM)-based agents, optimization-based decision-making
- Applications: Social simulation, smart manufacturing and supply chains, industrial robotics
I am currently looking for prospective Ph.D. students through the TongProgam (通计划) — a joint program for doctoral students between BIGAI and leading universities in China. Current partner universities with me include Zhejiang University, Beihang University, and Wuhan University. Feel free to reach out to me if you are interested!
